The Best Nail Shapes for Your Hand Type

Nail shape has an outsized impact on how your hands look, and choosing the right one for your hand and finger proportions makes a real difference. If you have shorter fingers, almond or oval shapes elongate the finger visually, while square shapes can make fingers appear shorter. For wide nail beds, a squoval (square with softly rounded corners) or soft square tends to be the most flattering — it follows the natural width without emphasizing it.
